Pink Salt Riot is all about spreading joy in a world sorely lacking it.
What makes you joyful? I know that occasionally I think new clothes or a stuffed crust pizza will make me happy, but I never really believe those things will bring me joy.
Joy is something else. Joy is more than a feeling – it’s a way of life.
And like most “ways of life,” building a life of joy takes time.
But most importantly – joy takes Christ.
Our Lord Jesus Christ came to share words that sounded strange to the people of his time. He came to a people oppressed – under the rule of foreign, pagan enemies – and instead of bringing an army he brought words of peace and actions of kindness and humility. He brought divine love, love that washes feet, brings dignity to the disabled, reveals the truth to sinners, and ultimately brings the dead to new life. This is the good news – and knowledge and acceptance of these truths and the truth of who Jesus is is truly what brings us joy.
But like I said, joy isn’t some box that you check once and then you’ve got it.
Joy takes time, prayer, and practice.
And that’s where I come in:
Pink Salt Riot makes products that help you remember to practice joy.
In this crazy world, in your crazy life, in the midst of your undeniably crazy family, we need those little things, those little reminders that point our eyes back to Him. Back to Christ, back to His cross.
Things are just that. Things. They matter fairly little on their own, but like all things, they can be so much more if they point to the truth and lead precious souls there. If one of my products reminds one person to pray one time I will be grateful for the opportunity to cooperate with God in that soul for that moment.
As the artist and designer here at Pink Salt Riot my only desire is to use the gifts for art and design God has given me to point right back to Him. Right back to His joy, His fullness, His love. He is the only fulfillment of human desire and the only source of real and lasting joy. There is no greater work than to show Him to those who do not know Him, or to those who desire to know Him more.
So that is my hope for my work in your life. We have free resources available, as well as digital and physical products for all kinds of people. Currently this shop is just me, Jill Simons, but if the Spirit wills I imagine our team will be growing in the coming years.
We are working on ironing out the details of our fundraising program will be coming in early 2017, which will be a wonderful way to support your school, youth group, or parish through the support of an ethically made, Catholic Christian company.
God bless you on your journey, and I hope we bring you a bit of Christ’s joy.
