Rooting Out all Versions of the Lie God Won't Provide - Pink Salt Riot
The lie that God won't provide that we are grappling with this month is a slippery one. Even if we don’t believe it and it’s purest, bald face form, we might be believing it in subtle ways that we aren’t even aware of, and that’s what we’re diving into today.
You might believe that God will provide for you in general, but what about if you stop being able to work?
What if you lose your job?
    What if you become disabled?
What if someone in your family needs something completely out of your budget, whether it’s therapy, medical needs, or something else?
Will God provide for you if you take breaks?
Will He will still provide for you if you rest?
Can you completely take Sundays off and still trust that God will provide?
Questions like these are the ones to ask to uncover any lingering lies lurking in the dark corners of our mind. So many of us “believe that God will provide” but we put addendums and qualifications on it, often without even realizing it, approaching it like God will provide for us if, and only if, we are able to pay the piper through our own hard work.
We believe that God will provide, but maybe only when we prove we deserve provision.
Maybe only when we worked hard enough to ask him to give us a little something in return.
Maybe only when it’s for somebody else too… not just for me.
It might seem good enough to generally believe that God will provide for us and not go into the weeds of dealing with these messy little shadow lies that don’t seem to come out very much.
But at the end of the day anytime we let a lie live unchallenged in our minds, we are giving a very real share of our mental real estate to the devil.
Whether or not he is making use of it on a daily basis doesn’t really matter… It’s still a place where he is king and God is not, and it really is as bad as it sounds. We need to root these things out, not because God is threatened, but because we are.
Any time we give some of our agreement, our agency, our free will to the evil one you can bet he will capitalize on it, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but he absolutely will come to call. It’s not a matter of if, just when.
And so that’s the opportunity in front of us: to let God come in and spring clean and shine His light in these places right now, hopefully long before an issue arises, so that He can be King in all of our hearts and minds, no pesky strongholds holding out.
It won’t happen instantly or overnight, but it’s a beautiful goal, and it’s what we desire to empower you to do here at PSR through our products and content.
